Since we can expect every year, several major college programs in the preparations for this season without a starter gone to a certain quarterback. This year seems particularly intense, as both are National Champion runner-up Texas and USC in search of new beginnings. With the college football season a little more than a week away, most of the race for the starting job has now been decided. Here's a look at some of the larger programs, have settled on their snap taker, and the impactIt must be in the team for the season.
Arizona State - No discussion can happen quarterback controversy, without talking about what's going on in Tempe. This is without doubt the most bizarre situation of the recent past. On Friday, coach Dirk Koetter was that senior Sam Keller was the starter, struck out sophomore Rudy Carpenter. Koetter met with his players over the weekend at a meeting that he can not or have not called, and came to the oddDecision that he had made a mistake. Carpenter is now the starter and Keller is transferring to Nebraska.
Despite the strangeness of this move could prove to be positive for the team. When Keller was hurt last year, Carpenter showed that he is very talented. If Carpenter is hurt, but it will be big problems with the Sun Devils. With the transfer of the basement, the team has only one scholarship QB and he has no experience. Koetter took a big risk, threw the blanket, securityWindow and let the entire rest of the season at the Carpenter's health. When he starts to look for, even a little hurt, you want to bet on the opposition.
Texas - Redshirt freshman Colt McCoy is probably the most unhappy man who tries to fill huge shoes of Vince Young after he beat a true freshman Romaniote Snead. McCoy is a killer defense and runs a fantastic game to protect him, but his performance will determine if Texas has a good year or another really bigYear.
Although McCoy is the man for now he was able to fight problems as soon as he his first game. The opposition, North Texas, will certainly be no problem - Texas is a 41-point favorites. In a blowout, but Snead is likely to see much playing time. When McCoy only looks good, and Snead were to shine it could be a very short career for the current starter.
His Florida State - Drew Weatherford will be the starter again. He was probably the best QB in the ACClast year, but that's a bit like the best singer in a Deaf School. His 18 interceptions last year were far too many. Xavier Lee is doing limited playing time last year, but he looked good and he has had a great spring and summer. Lee has a better arm than Weatherford and he runs better than good. Although the race is over now, it might be interesting in the season opener against Miami. Weatherford has been in the Miami game was terrible last year, and Lee, and looked better. When Leegets a chance in the game again on 3 September, would put Weatherford on the bench for good.
USC - John David Booty is the man to follow Matt Leinart and Carson Palmer. No pressure. He was ahead of Mark Sanchez on the depth chart with little effort to stay. Booty has all the talent in the world, but his back is anything but perfectly healthy. USC takes a step back this season, but it will depend on Booty to see how much a move will be. If Bootyfalters or is injured, Sanchez is more than capable of stepping. If he can out of the trouble, that is. Sanchez was arrested recently, but do not pay for sexual assault.
Georgia - For the fifth year senior Joe Tereshinski has won in one of the most interesting races in the country. He beat three other players, but the most interesting candidate was freshman and all-round future stud, Matthew Stafford. This was a case of experience versus skill. Tereshinski is notvery athletic and his arm is not overwhelming, but he has the program for years, and he knows the script. Stafford can cause wonders with a ball, but he is raw. It will be interesting to see whether Tereshinski can keep his job all season, especially when it comes to a halt soon.
Texas Tech - No one really cares about, is taking the snaps at Texas Tech - it is for one million yards and throwing a ridiculous number of touchdowns, then fade after a few yearsnothing to do on an NFL roster because his crazy college system nothing to him get ready for the great time. The only reason I bring this race was because of the excitement that the decision caused. Sophomore Graham Harrell, the work of redshirt freshman Chris Todd won. Todd was so unhappy that he breaks then start a fight in practice, and finally the nose Ryan Rowland, another QB. Texas Tech fun to see, but obviously their practices are even more fun.
