# 4 - Texas Longhorns 13-0 SU, 11-2 ATS
Remain Fargo's Take When Vince Young decided to order for his senior season, the Longhorns would be easyFavorites to repeat as national champions, while the boy would probably Heisman favorite as well. Instead, to try to Texas and defend their title with a quarterback who never played in a school. Colt McCoy has the name and the raw talent to become a star, but the inexperience is a major concern. What he does is have plenty of playmakers around him, which should ease some of the transition. The defense will also be asked to step things early on, but this is not a problem. TheLonghorns are at least 10 games for five straight seasons, winning is never won such a question. Break through and win the big games was a question before last season, but with the first championship in 36 years in Austin, Texas is now part of the elite category. The timetable will be difficult again, but when McCoy learns quickly, a repeat title is not in question.
Returning starters on offense - 6 McCoy redshirted last season, he has to have a season ofSystem under the belt, is what the deciding factor in winning the job over true freshman Romaniote Snead. Two of the three receivers are back in Billy Pittman and Limas sweed while redshirt freshman Jermichael Finley many heads at tight end. Three starters along the offensive line are back and depth is everywhere so there will be no drop off there. The running game will be just fine, despite the suspension and subsequent transfer of running back Ramonce Taylor. LeadingReturning rusher Jamaal Charles, who gained 878 yards and an amazing 7.4 YPC is only the second year but he is projected as a first team All-Big XII running back. Senior Selvin Young (461, 4.8) has also become a great contribution. Texas finished 1st offense in scoring for, 2 Noise in the offensive, and 3 are not likely to vote on the offensive, and while the overall ranking, this is still considered a very strong offensive.
Returning starters on defense - 7 If for some reason the offensiveStruggles, the defense is more than willing to pick up the slack. The Longhorns finished 8th Defense and scored in the 10th total defense last season and will be even better in 2006. This is the best defense in the conference with tabs and 2 best in the nation, thanks to seven players coming back and depth everywhere on the field. The secondary has two first team All-Big XII player in the corner Tarell Brown and strong safety Michael Griffin, both can be seen on all-American lists. TheHKL also has two first-team all-conference player at defensive end Tim Crowder and defensive tackle Frank Okame. If there is a weakness, it is at linebacker but the speed and depth of this unit successful. Texas is one of the best defensive coordinators in the country with Gene Chizik, who is in his second season after leading Auburn to the top rankings in scoring defense in 2004.
All dates are coming to Texas this season, but the talent, matchingactually win these games is a totally different scenario. The Longhorns started the season with a home defeat of North Texas before hosting revenge-minded Ohio St., which should be compared to the classic that last season. Texas gets a three-game break at Rice, Iowa St. and Sam Houston St., prior to Dallas to take on Red River Shootout rival Oklahoma. The Longhorns should win the remaining games on the slate with a home game against Baylor and finishingGames against Oklahoma St., Kansas St. Texas A & M at home. There are, however, caught two games on the road, Nebraska and Texas Tech, who did not win so easily. Another trip to the Big XII Championship is likely if it is past the Sooners and Red Raiders from getting home away.
You can ... USC was able to repeat, twice actually, so that the Longhorns are quite capable. Young at the top would have a lot of things easier, but this is still one of the most talented teams in theCountry. Texas has won just 20 games, the longest streak in the country and no team wants to tear that more than the Buckeyes, beaten at home last year by the Longhorns in the final seconds. Texas destroyed most of its competition in the last year, led the one on his 11-2 record against the number. The Longhorns are 10-4 favorites is for road construction over the past three years, and if it is available, that if the value is not found, however, a lot. The first road in this season at Rice andnot only to follow Ohio St. sense disappointment, but the home team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings in this series.
