Over the past forty five years the sport of golf has grown tremendously in popularity.
At this time we have the great masters such as Greg Norman, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer, Byron Nelson, Harry Vardon and seen, of course, Tiger Woods .
There are also world class courses on how to enjoy in the United Kingdom, Hillside, Burnham & Berrow, Southport & Ainsdale and Manor House. There Adare Manor in County Limerick in Ireland, Austria and Fontana in Machrihanish, Scotland.
And in the U.S., there are also Bethgate Park, Augusta National, Pine Valley and the Riviera Country Club, to name a few.
The question now is why the game of golf has proved so popular among so many people?
Is it the opportunity to network with friends and colleagues ... be a good workout ... or just the excitement of the challenge?
Or maybe all theseThings?
Let's face it, you have a scorecard when you play golf and it's always remember how well you are doing or not - and highlight the need for improvement - which you keep trying more and more difficult each time.
And that keeps you back for more ... It keeps the game.
If you have never played golf before, you need to know the basics of the game.
Played on eighteen holes, you may have heard of the concept of par.
This refers to each hole, the number of drives (from tea), fairway shots, chips, as you approach the green, and the last putt.
The distance and the difficulty of each hole par to determine the range 3 to 6 In order to 'make par' you need to get the ball into the hole in the same number rated as getting to the hole.
So, if the hole is a par 5, you have the ball in 5 shots.
Less than 6 strokes to get the ball in a hole 5 par, called a bogie.
If you are in the same par 5 hole4 shots, this is called a birdie.
To complicate the holes, there are dangers on the road.
These can be strategically placed trees, bushes, sand and water traps.
The more difficult the course, the more of these risks will be present, it is a good idea for beginners to find a course with as few of these obstacles as possible.
The way the game is achieved by each player made their own marking score cards with every shot.
Then the total number will be addedfor each hole, with the world's most successful player with the lowest number on his score card at the end of the game.
While golf can be a very competitive game, it is important for beginners to take it easy and not take themselves too seriously.
Golf is not an easy game to master and it can take a long time, to achieve adequate.
Remember, the experts have probably already playing golf from an early age and for a very long time.
So do not be in too hard on yourself from the startand take one or two hours to help you build your momentum.
